What Is WorldVentures?

Based out of Texas in the United States, WorldVentures is an MLM travel agency that offers big discounts and lavish world-class vacations to their DreamTrips members, while empowering them to make money at the same time.

Wayne Nugent founded this company in 2005. Since then, he has successfully expanded the business over 40 countries like France, Singapore, and Mexico, among other cities.

Plus, the company has over half a million members worldwide and more than 120,000 global representatives.

WorldVentures have a similar business operation as Ibuumerang, another travel agency founded by a network marketing veteran – Holton Buggs. But I can say that they are much bigger than Ibuumerang for sure.

Who Is Wayne Nugent?

Founder and owner of WorldVentures - Wayne Nugent

There’s no much information about Wayne Nugent’s background on the internet.

However, according to Wayne’s bio on LinkedIn, he claimed that he founded WorldVentures is because he thinks that travel is an essential part of life, and he had the desire to build the “Mary Kay of travel”, and he did it.

Furthermore, he said that he has consistently performed in the top 1% of the MLM Industry.

And he has successfully built several organizations over 100,000 sales representatives, spanning the globe, and generating over 2 billion in sales.

How Does WorldVentures Works?

It’s a bit confusing if I only explain their business operation with plain texts, so I decide to illustrate it further with an infographic that I created below for your better understanding.

How WorldVentures Works.

WorldVentures books their trips and hotel rooms in bulk at discounted prices and package them into several travel packs, which they named it DreamTrips memberships.

They then resell the memberships on their subsidiary website called

The members will be charged a monthly fee in exchange for the luxury vacations at a discounted rate. You could plan, book, and organize it for your personal needs.

It’s just like Costco, where you pay a membership fee to get discounts on their products.

One thing to take note here is that WorldVentures doesn’t include airfare costs in the membership plans.

DreamTrips Membership Packages

DreamTrips membership plans are the only product that WorldVentures offered.

As yet, they’ve 3 DreamTrips membership plans.

The prices are not disclosed on their website. All information is obtained from my independent research.

1) Gold Tier Membership

Possible Pricing:

  • $200 one-time fee + $50 monthly recurring fee.

  • Basic access to WorldVentures’ travel booking engine.
  • Collect points.
  • Redeem discounts.
  • Make money with their MLM compensation plan.

2) Platinum Tier Membership

Possible Pricing:

  • $300 one-time fee + $100 monthly recurring fee.

  • Everything from Gold membership + Exclusive access to “elevated extras” like price protection, flight accident insurance, travel advisers, etc

3) Titanium Tier Membership

Possible Pricing:

  • $850 one-time fee + $150 monthly recurring fee.

  • Top-notch services like priority access to exclusive events, trips upgraded, $1000 in charter yacht credit, advance booking access, etc.

Here’s a great video presentation showing all the nitty-gritty of the DreamTrips memberships. Feel free to check it out, just make sure you don’t get hooked by their sales pitch LOL.

How Do You Make Money With WorldVentures?

WorldVentures is a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company. You can already tell that.

Most MLM companies have one common downside: They “love” to complicate their compensation plans, making it looks like there’re tons of way to make money out of them.

For sure, the WorldVentures’ 18-pages compensation plan has no different here.

Therefore, there’s no point for me to get into every detail of their compensation plan as I am sure that’ll bore you, and “put you to sleep faster than a sloth on Ambien.”

It literally takes me hours to understand how it works out, so you don’t need to.

I will try my very best to summarize everything for you and only explain the main points you need to know about their MLM program.

Sounds cool? Great!

Here’s an image showing the overall process. All my explanations will stick to the framework of the process.

How you can make money with MLM

1) Paying Joining Fee

This is basically asking you to buy into their DreamTrips memberships in order to be their associates and earn commissions.

You can always refer back to the earlier section, where I talked about their membership plans for more precise info.

2) Ways To Earn Money

As I’ve mentioned earlier, most compensation is sophisticated and hard-to-understand than solving a Rubik’s cube blindfolded.

Let’s not talk about the different tiers/leaderboard rankings and any complex MLM stuff that could “crack your head into half”.

All you need to know is that WorldVentures pays out the commissions to their salespeople through different compensation structures.

And there’re 6 main ways for you to earn commissions & bonuses from the company.

Let me list them out for your information.

i. Weekly Team Bonuses

This commission is only for their MLM high achievers, and it’s paid out via a binary compensation structure, as shown in the figure below.

Binary Compensation Structure
ii. Residual Commissions

WorldVentures pays residual commissions on monthly DreamTrips membership fee payments.

They’re using the same binary structure as Weekly Team Bonuses above to pay out this commission.

iii. Bonus Binary Team Positions

An associate who earns $25,000 a month from their current binary position will be rewarded an additional position.

Binary team positions are used to calculate the Weekly Team Bonus and residual commissions.

iv. Wings and Wheels Lifestyle Bonus

The Wings and Wheels Lifestyle Bonus is a three-tier cash bonus up to $1000/month.

v. Dream Car Cash Bonus

Once a WorldVentures associate reaches a certain high ranking, they’ll be qualified to receive Dream Car Cash Bonus, a car allowance of up to $1500.

vi. Dream Home Bonus

Something like Dream Car Cash Bonus, but it’s even more (up to $3000 cash bonus).

Extra Notes:
  • WorldVentures has 11 MLMer ranks. The higher you ranked, the more commissions you’ll be qualified to earn.
  • They’ve got a campaign named “Refer Four And Pay No More”, which allows you to waive off the monthly recurring fee if you manage to recruit at least 4 active downlines.
Well, I’ve done explaining the basics of their compensation plan in plain language.
If you wish to learn more details, but you don’t want to trouble yourself reading their long pdf document, you can watch the video below showing how you can make money with WorldVentures.

3) Leveraging A Downline Team

The last thing you should do is try your very best to recruit as many people as possible to build a reliable downline team and earn commissions.

I am not sure about you, but whenever I say “leverage” your downlines to earn commissions, I always feel guilty because that’s kinda like “using” other people for your own purpose.

But in reality, it’s an undeniable fact in Multi-Level Marketing.

Forming a downline team that can branch out your circle to maximizes your earning potential is always the ideal way to succeed in MLM than just selling stuff.

1) Well-Established Company

WorldVentures is a well-established company that has been in the business for over 10 years (since ). There must be a reason for a company to stay that long.

Since 2005, They’ve been named in several awards, included:

  • 2009~2018 Direct Selling News Global 100 List.
  • #1 in the list of Top U.S. Mid-Market Companies.
  • #1 in Consistent Growth from 2009 to 2016 with a 927% increase.
  • #2 in the $100 Million Growth Club.
  • #12 in the Top 20 U.S. Companies.
  • Inc.’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies (Named twice).

2) They Give Back To Society

Most people go on vacation merely for relaxing and sightseeing.

WorldVentures has a charity program that enabled travelers to do good things by helping the local communities and rural areas.

They often call the travelers who took part in the program the “VolunTours”.

This is probably the best part of their campaign to prove that they aren’t just all about the money. They give back to society, too.

1) Multiple Lawsuits

Even though I said that WorldVentures is a well-established company, but somehow they have a horrible reputation in public.

They’re getting multiple lawsuits all over the world, which is not a great sign for an MLM company, and making it looks like a pyramid scheme in disguise.

Here’s the list of lawsuits they’ve gotten into:

  • 2014 – WorldVentures was sued by the Norwegian government, which accused of operating a pyramid scheme and shut down its operations in the country.
  • 2016 – Former top-earning members filed multiple lawsuits against the company, alleging that the company terminated their contracts to funnel their commissions to the executive team.
  • 2017 – A class-action lawsuit filed in California accusing them of operating a pyramid scheme.
  • 2018 – WorldVentures was banned from operating in Norway.
  • 2018 – Distributors sued WorldVentures for unpaid commissions.

2) BBB Warning

Better Business Bureau (BBB) has raised warning on WorldVentures, and here’s the screenshot of the warning message I captured on BBB:

Better Business Bureau (BBB) has raised warning on WorldVentures

Basically, the BBB message is condemning WorldVentures for 2 main reasons:

  • Misleading and exaggerated claims.
  • Not provide refunds for canceled services.

Indeed, if you read the customer complaints filed on BBB or Trustpilot, you can see that numerous angry customers complained WorldVentures failed to provide them a satisfying vacation and not giving them refunds that they supposed to get.

Besides, some customers have canceled the trips because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but WorldVentures refused to give them refunds.

3) Huge Startup Cost

The DreamTrips memberships are pricey. It’s not affordable if you’re running on a tight budget.

What’s making it worst is that you need to pay hundreds of monthly recurring fees to stay active and get commissions.

Meanwhile, their training isn’t free. You’ll need to pay a monthly fee for your training materials.

They’ll also encourage you to attend their training events and conferences that can cost you extra hundreds of dollars.

At WorldVentures, you’re much likely to spend thousands of dollars in your first year, and there’s no guarantee you’ll be getting ideal returns.

4) Low Income Potential

This is the big one.

Because of this, I can’t recommend the Worldventures MLM opportunity to anyone.

Take a look at the 2019 WorldVentures income disclosure below:

2019 WorldVentures income disclosure
2019 WorldVentures income disclosure

Let me recap some of the key points stated in their income disclosure:

  • At the end of June 2019, there were 57,584 WorldVentures Representatives in the United States.
  • 85.4% of Representatives did not make any annual commission.
  • The average annual commission of Representatives who earned a commission or bonus was $2,425.55, and the median was $50.00.
  • Over 88% of Representatives make less than $2,000 for the entire year.

Can you see that? They have explained every well on how meager is their MLM earning potential.

And I believe most of the reps who’re making serious dough are people who get into the MLM network way earlier than you, they are usually called TOPPs, which stands for Top-Of-The-Pyramid.

If you’re looking for a full-time income source by making money from home, this might not be the opportunity for you. I am pretty sure there’s a much better alternative out there.

5) Declining Revenue

According to the data on, WorldVentures’ revenue over the past few years is declining rapidly.

Here’s the screenshot of the report by to show you WorldVentures revenue difference from 2015 to 2019:

Meanwhile, I’ve just searched on Google Trends and found out that the public interest toward WorldVentures is diminishing over the past 5 years.

Public interest in WorldVentures is diminishing, as seen on Google Trend.
And you know what? I personally think all these seem to be expected.
To be honest with you, I struggled to see the value in WorldVentures’ services.
There are tons of legit sites like, Agoda, Air Asia, etc. that allow you to book all your travels online. It’s really not difficult stuff that needs someone to do it for you.
Additionally, one of the downsides of having everything planned for you is that you lose the freedom to discover the world. Everything on the trip is all well-planned in advance.

So, Is WorldVentures MLM A Scam?

Don’t you dare lie to me GIF
Now to the most crucial verdict of this review: Is WorldVentures MLM A Scam?
Quite frankly, I can’t make a definite judgment to claim that WorldVentures is a scam, but it doesn’t mean that it’s legitimate either.
Despite they’ve acquired so many awards in the past, they’re still getting several lawsuits and warnings from other countries and regulatory bodies.
And from the results we obtained from and Google Trend, it seems like the business starts to phase out.
Inevitably, some people have reported success with WorldVentures, but the number is meager. The data in their income disclosure is firm evidence.
With all this in mind, I am sure this is not the kind of business you’ll want to go into.

You Deserve A Better Opportunity

Kudos to you! You’ve just read 2600+ words and still counting. If you make it this far, I commend your commitment.

Meanwhile, I can also feel how serious you’re when it comes to finding a proper way to make money from home.

MLM is great.

I am also not saying that people can’t make a decent living with MLM. But it often represents a tiny group of people who joined the program early.

That said, it’s challenging for people who’re BOPs (bottom-of-pyramid) to make some serious dough because they’re running out of people to “recruit”.

MLM Unilevel Compensation Structure

Instead, Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money from home.

The reason is simple…

Advantage 1: No Recruitment Needed

  • You don’t need to “chase” after people and talk them into MLM opportunity where most people lose money.

Advantage 2: Freedom of Choice

  • You can promote any products you love and not be restricted only to promote the products from one MLM company.

Advantage 3: Low Startup Cost

  • Unlike MLM, where you’ll need to pay a pricy introductory fee to join, it takes little to no startup cost to kickstart your entrepreneurial journey in Affiliate Marketing.

You might think I’m biased, but I’m just telling the truths…

  1. This was really interesting to read especially as I am not a person who would necessarily recommend an MLM type company for so many reasons.

I find it really difficult to understand why these companies are still operating as they do make it hard for the average person to make money

I joined Wealthy Affiliate 3 months ago and feel that with all the training and the great community within it that I will be able to make some good money without false promises.

    Thank you

    1. Thanks for your comment, Imelda.

I am glad to hear that you’re part of Wealthy Affiliate, which is also my top recommendation to newbies who want to learn to make money online.

Am sending my best wishes for your future success in affiliate marketing, my friend!

  2. Hi Zac,

Thank you so much for this thorough review of WorldVentures MLM. I haven’t heard about them. I am surprised this MLM company received some awards in the past and yet they are involved in several lawsuits and even got a bad review from BBB. To me, that’s more than enough red flags. The thing that is strange for me is the one time fee but then there are still monthly recurring fees. For example, the Gold tier membership costs $200 one-time fee + $50 monthly recurring fee. That said, this well-established business has some positive things that online entrepreneurs can learn from like their way to give back to society, their campaign styles, etc. The thing we have to remember is the importance of being transparent with customers and maybe try not to exaggerate our campaign.

I appreciate that you taking the time to do research and share it. People nowadays want to do investment and make money online but there are so many scams out there. Your site will help so many to avoid scams and make a great investment for their future. So, I have bookmarked your site for future reference.

Looking forward to reading more of your great posts.

    1. I appreciate your comment, my friend! It’s my pleasure to hear that you’re able to get values from my article.

  3. I had heard good comments about Worldventures so I decided to research before joining them.

I’m glad I found your post. I didn’t know that had huge start-up costs and I didn’t know either that it had low income potential.

I have decided that this platform is not for me. I’ll give them a pass.
