lessons you can learn from steve jobs

As of 31 March 2020, one of the greatest leaders in human history – The amazing guy who created Apple – Steve Jobs has left us for almost 9 years. His name and legendary life story will be remembered from generation to generation.

Let’s take a look at what life lessons you can learn from Steve Jobs, which is timeless, and everyone can learn and apply for self-development.

4 Life-Changing Lessons You Can Learn From Steve Jobs

1. Question Everything

"If you are willing to work hard and ask lots of questions, you can learn business pretty fast." - Steve Jobs

The Story Behind

When it comes to asking questions, Steve Jobs might be a big fan of it. He often told the interviewers his success was built on the questioning.

Indeed, keep asking profound questions was the foundation for many of his most creative ideas.

For instance: “Who is Apple and where do we fit in this world?”, it is this critical question that took Apple from near bankruptcy to the first publicly-traded company that hit 1 trillion US dollars in market value.

Key Takeaway

If today was the last day of your life, would you want to do what you’re about to do today?

This is the question that Steve Jobs always asks himself in front of the mirror every morning.

You can use this “Steve Jobs’ Question” to find your real purpose in life. If your answer is “NO” for too many days in a row, you know you’re going to do something for your current living.

Other than that, if we continuously asking why something is always done in a certain way, this will somehow shorten your path to success. Why? Because it can boost your creativity, which plays a significant role in contributing you the solutions to get what you want in life.

So, always stay humble, question everything, and learn from it.

2. Love What You Do

"If you don't love it, you're going to fail." - Steve Jobs

The Story Behind

If you’ve read the biography of Steve Jobs, which is worth to have a look, you’ll know how much Steve Jobs loves his job and everything he did.

Even after he was fired from Apple in the early years, he was still keeping his faith, follow his heart, and do what makes him fulfilled.

Key Takeaway

Not only Steve Jobs wants you to learn this life lesson, I genuinely believe that every successful person would want you to understand the power of passion, and why you should always love what you do.

Just like what David Goggins said: “Motivation is crap. It comes and goes. When you’re driven, everything in front of you will get destroyed.”

If you’re making millions, but you’re not happy, it’ll only make you feel depressed every day. Remember, it’s better to laugh in a Toyota than cry in a Ferrari.

If you love what you do, not only you’ve got a higher chance of achieving great success. Even a small milestone will make you feel like you’ve won the world and enable you to live a more fulfilling and happier life at the same time.

3. Value Your Time

"My favorite thing in life don't cost any money. It is really clear that the most precious resource is TIME." - Steve Jobs

The Story Behind

As there’s a saying goes: Nothing is certain but death and taxes.

The day Steve Jobs passed away, he’s only 56 years old. But, his contribution to the world is remarkable.

Steve Jobs’ death had left the world stunned as we lost a great leader in 2011. His story also taught us our time on this earth is limited; no one will know when their death is. We’d value our time and never waste it living someone else’s life.

Key Takeaway

Did you know that the odd for you to become a human being is 400 trillion to 1? That’s why you’re here for a reason, your job on earth is looking for the “real” mission that God wants you to complete. He is not sending you here just to enjoy life, and do nothing about it.

Everyone has their talents, their true genius. Figure out what’s yours because you’ll discover your real passion and what you truly love doing along the way.

Then, find a way to contribute to the world with your passion or your strengths. For example, I know I love to write. So I create a website and give values to my readers with my blog posts.

4. Keep Things Simple

"Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains." - Steve Jobs

The Story Behind

When Steve Jobs and the engineers were discussing the appearance of the iPod, Jobs wants the design to be slick and simple. He insisted that the on/off button should be the only button on it.

Soon, the engineers were skeptical about his idea, but Jobs wouldn’t relent. He believed that keeping the whole operation of every project as simple as possible was essential, in order to provide the best user experience,

As a result, the scroll wheel was developed and it is still a feature of IT today. The time itself has proved the decision of Steve Jobs was right.

Key Takeaway

In this ever-changing era, we often complicate the simple stuff, which is also the core reason for most people’s stressful life.

Keeping things simple can declutter our minds and help us to prioritize important things, which will then lead us to a more productive lifestyle.

Final Thoughts

These’re are the 4 life lessons that everyone should learn from Steve Jobs – a visionary and a business leader who revolutionized how we look at the smart devices. He left so much for the rest of us to use, develop, grow, and thrive.

  5. Being interested myself in all things motivational and personal development I was glad your site came up for commenting on!

Starting with your About Me page. I like that you call it The Face Behind. A little different to the standard About Me title and shows that there is an individual behind the content. I like also the size of your picture and the item of clothing you are wearing. Seriously, to me it shows how serious you are about your subject matter if you are willing to purchasing clothing that’s connected with it!

So I viewed the post regarding Steve Jobs. A great idea for a topic as I’m sure most of us would agree that he was a highly successful and hard working individual before he was cruelly taken from us.

I like the comic like (I can’t think of the word at the moment!) pictures you have of Steve Jobs in your post. Makes the content feel a little lighter and expresses an aspect of your personality.

It’s certainly good that you’ve put a ‘key takeaway’ from each life changing lesson. Good for people to think what they can actively do themselves. I particularly like the takeaway from the questioning lesson. Very useful when considering how much time (myself included!) people can waste in life.

I’m also intrigued by the fact that you gave that the odds of being a human is 400 trillion to 1. i never knew that! Makes me more grateful that I exist and almost in one sentences drives me to want to make a difference. Other people will hopefully think likewise. If you are that unique as person surely that should be a driver to succeed and make the most of your life?

Overall, I love the post. It offers some inspirational thoughts and with so much sadness around the world at the moment posts such as this are most welcome.

    Great stuff.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

  6. Steve Jobs was indeed a great business leader and someone we can learn a good deal of lessons from. I’ve read several articles about him and they all seem to agree.

Out of the four points you mention, the one that resonates with me the most is loving what we do. It may seem simple, yet it’s crucial if we want to be successful. Success, after all, is very subjective. If we don’t love what we do, we’ll hardly ever do our best and will end up feeling miserable. Been there, done that.

Thanks for this post. I look forward to reading the next one.
