How To Join “It Works!” And Make Money?

As you might know, most of the MLM compensation plans are sophisticated. They usually take a long time for you to understand how it works.

Therefore, for your better understanding, I would show you a step-by-step explanation to guide you on how to involve in “It Works!” MLM program and starts making an income out of it.

Step 1: The Joining Fee

In most cases, upfront funding or introductory fees is always a MUST in any MLM business. “It Works!” has no different here.

You’re required to purchase their Business Builder Kit that priced at $99. Inside this starter kit, you’ll be getting the necessary business and marketing tools that help to raise your business.

Here’s the list of tools included in the $99 Business Builder Kit:

  • Personalized Website
  • eSuite – A platform that shows you real-time reports, customer insights, etc
  • 10% Discount Code
  • Tools and apps that allow you to work from your phone.
  • An all-digital starter kit that will enable you to start working from home.
  • 10 Skinny Brew Sample Mailer Credits

The story does not end here. After you’ve signed up for the program, you’ll need to $100+ hidden fees every month!

Here’s the list of hidden fees you’ll need to pay:

  • $20 monthly website fee.
  • $35 annual website renewal fee.

Additionally, for you to qualify for a commission, you need to maintain a monthly auto-ship of 80 unit volumes per month (~$80-$100).

But this requirement can be waived if you can manage to sell 400 unit volumes of products every month (~$400).

To sum up all the expenditures, you might need to spend around $1,300 to $1,500+ every year! And this is not including the costs of hosting your promotional campaign or so-called “wrap parties”, as they often called it in the inner circle.

Step 2: Understanding The Compensation Plan & Start Making Money!

“It works!” compensation plan is about 22 pages long. However, I don’t think you need to read them all, and understand the whole concept or even memorizing it.

If you do so, I can guarantee it’ll not only eat up a lot of your time, and you’ll get overwhelmed because it’s just too complicated (at least for me).

Hence, I’ll summarize everything for you, and keep it simple for your better understanding.

Overall, there’re 3 main ways for you to make money with “It Works!”

I’ve categorized them into a table to give you a clearer idea, and here’s it:

Ways to make moneyExplanationRemark
Retail CommissionYou earn a commission when you make a sales. The percentage of commission is depending on the products.
Loyal Customer CommissionOnce you enroll a loyal customer, they're automatically subscribed to a 3-month membership plan. You'll get paid for a commission up to 45% as long as they're on subscription. You'll get an extra $120 cash bonus if you can sign up 4 loyal customers within 30 days.
Residual CommissionThis commission is payout via their unilevel compensation structure. You can earn residual commissions by building a downline team and get promoted across the board. The more people you recruit, the higher you'll be ranked. Hence, the more commissions you'll be earning.

5 Reasons Why I Don't Recommend “It Work!”

1. Bad Rating On BBB

As of 15 April 2020, “It Works!” has been reviewed by 250 customers and score an average of 2 out of 5-star rating on Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Additionally, they also received up to 633 customers’ complaints on BBB over the past 4 years, which means there’s a complaint filed every 2 to 3 days?!

How bad is the review of "It Works!" on Better Business Bureau (BBB)

Now my question for you is:

Are you really going to trust a company with so many complaints and poor ratings from customers? I doubt it.

2. Loyal Customer Program Is A Trap!

Do you still remember the Loyal Customer Commission that allows you to earn an extra cash bonus if you managed to sign up 4 people in 30 days?

There’s nothing wrong with this loyalty program. The problem lies in how distributors promote it.

There’s a condition saying that if a customer wants to cancel their membership within the 3-month subscription period, there will be a penalty of $50.

Most distributors failed to inform this critical condition whenever they sign up a customer, which then lead them into hardship with full of complaints from customers.

But even if they do inform it, many customers seem to be unaware of it.

Again, you can find out numerous complaints from customers on BBB, complaining that they’re unable to cancel their auto-ship.

3. Heavy Emphasis On Recruitment

Take a look at the “Success Plan” prepared by the company below.

Success Plan made by “It Works!”

How does it make you feel? For me, it just makes me feel like they extremely emphasize on recruitment.

In other words, it’s telling you if you don’t recruit, you’ll lose.

However, this’s nothing new in the MLM industry as most of the companies use the same tactic to boost their sales.

4. Low Earning Potential

This is the most crucial part. So sit tight, and read carefully what I’m going to explain to you right now…

The figure below showing you the income disclosure in 2018 obtained from It Works official website. And I guess 2018 is their latest income disclosure, as I can’t find any updated version.

2018 It Works Income Disclosure

From the data shown, you can know that there’s only 3.09% of people are making above the monthly minimum wage (average $2k globally). What a pathetic amount?!

And the fact is: It’s not only happening in “It Works!”, but it also occurs in every MLM company.

According to the report from FTC, they claimed that only the top 1% of people are able to make money in MLM, and most of them are top-of-the-pyramid promoters.

Here’s the screenshot of the report as a proof:

FTC states that only 1% of people are actually making money in any MLM program.

That’s the reason why I seldom recommend MLM business opportunity to anyone because it’s earning potential is way too low!

5. Expensive Start-Up Cost & Product Price

Let face it, only a few people would be willing to spend $1.3k or above to start an MLM business that has a low success rate.

Plus, the price of products is not cheap, too. These 2 factors will only make your business journey harder than you can imagine.

What Do I like About “It Work!”?

It Works! is very active on social media

The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, once said: “If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business.

It’s undeniable to say that the existence of the internet and social media change the world rapidly.

Many traditional MLM companies are slowly fizzled out because of failing to integrate their businesses with the internet.

“It Works!” really did a great job of leveraging social media and bring their business to the next level.

So, Is “It Work!”a Pyramid Scheme?

Don’t you dare lie to me GIF

Now to one of the most critical questions. Is “It Works!” a pyramid scheme?

After hours of research, I can say that “It Works!” is not a scam nor a pyramid scheme.

It is a legit legitimate MLM company with a solid background, and it has been operating for almost 20 years.

They also offer numerous wellness products for different purposes, and they’ve laid out every detail of their compensation plan for your reference.

However, I can’t recommend this business opportunity to anyone because of its meager success rate.

You Deserve A Better Opportunity

Kudos to you! You’ve just read 2100+ words and still counting. If you make it this far, I commend your commitment.

Meanwhile, I can also feel how serious you’re when it comes to finding a proper way to make money from home.

As you might know, MLM is a flawed business model.

For sure, there’re still people who make a good amount of money with MLM. But it often represents a tiny group of people who joined the program early.

That said, it’s challenging for people who’re BOPs (bottom-of-pyramid) to make some serious dough because they’re running out of people to “recruit”.

MLM Unilevel Compensation Structure

Instead, Affiliate Marketing is my top recommended business model for anyone to make money from home.

The reason is simple…

Advantage 1: No Recruitment Needed

  • You don’t need to “chase” after people and talk them into MLM opportunity where most people lose money.

Advantage 2: Freedom of Choice

  • You can promote any products you love and not be restricted only to promote the products from one MLM company.

Advantage 3: Low Startup Cost

  • Unlike MLM, where you’ll need to pay a pricy introductory fee to join, it takes little to no startup cost to kickstart your entrepreneurial journey in Affiliate Marketing.

You might think I’m biased, but I’m just telling the truths…

  1. This is a great review and I appreciate the research that went into this.  Pretty agonizing stuff to be stuck in a bad pyramid scheme investing time and money only to find out that the deck was stacked against you from the start.  This post will definitely help people avoid a mistake and roll up their sleeves to find the real opportunities that exist.

  2. Wow, thank you for bringing  this to the public’s attention. I have been in MLM before and wished I had found someone who had analyzed it as well as you have analyzed, “It Works”. Your write up exposes the pitfalls of some very important items that are surely misleading to the public. If it is too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
The exposure of your actually monthly cost is a distinct eye opener to warn anyone thinking of joining “It Works”, just ask questions along the lines of what you have exposed and see if your receive the same information or a dodge.

I commend you for your informative site and wish you the best in the near future in whatever you choose to do.

  3. Hi, Zac.

First of all… $99?!?!   Are they crazy?!?!  That reminds me of a time when I joined an MLM (I won’t tell who they were).  They asked for $150 to get started.  I was already broke and jobless, so that opportunity was a bust.  However, unlike the company you’re talking about, these people really did have a solid product and they didn’t emphasis recruitment.

It is understood that all businesses requires some kind of initial risk.  I don’t think I would want to risk $99 for such a small return.  I had to learn that MLM’s work best as a side gig, not as a full-time job.  Any other organization that suggests you work with them on a full-time basis is not a good company.

I’m sure this company has some people who are thriving and are finding success with them.  That’s great for them.  However, your review did open my eyes.

Your article was very insightful.  I’ve never heard of the company until this article.  If I get a friend that mentions this group, then I may recommend them to your article.  Thank you very much for your research and thoughts!
