Is Freedom Mentor A Scam - Logo of Freedom Mentor

Company Name: Freedom Mentor

What’s About: Real Estate Investing Coaching Program

Joining Fees: $3000 upfront + $197 monthly recurring fee

Founder/Owner: Phil Pustejovsky

Summary: Freedom Mentor is a high-ticket real estate coaching program that costs you thousands of recurring fee every single year. To me, it’s nothing but an overpriced program because most of the stuff that you may find on the mentoring program can be found everywhere else for free or at a much lesser price. Hence, I don’t think it’s an excellent program that I can recommend to anyone.

What Is Freedom Mentor?

Freedom Mentor is a real estate investment mentoring program founded by a well-known real estate investor – Phil Pustejovsky.
As the fee is not cheap, this program only aims to help serious investors to get started and learn the complex world real estate investing.

Who Is Phil Pustejovsky?

With almost 100M total views on Youtube, and the author for 2 two books on the subject of real estate investing, Phil Pustejovsky can be considered as a premiere mentor in the industry.
Phil’s entrepreneurial journey is the quintessential American Dream story.
He wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth and actually started from the most humble beginning.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University, he ventured into his first real estate investment without any prior experience and knowledge.
And you might guess it right. He went broke and homeless after losing all his savings in the investment.
Then, he met his first mentor, who named Tom, and everything changed.
Since then, with his mentor’s guidance, he made $45 million in short sales and built an extensive portfolio of properties acquired through lending techniques.
This life-changing experience makes him realize how important to have a mentor when it comes to real estate investing.
He then founded Freedom Mentor to help others through the power of mentoring and coaching.
That being said, Freedom Mentor acts like a bridge that partners you with Phil to learn real estate with real-world deals.
Phil also documented his life story into a 3-min long video and uploaded it on Youtube. You can watch and listen to his story below. It’s quite inspiring.

How To Join Freedom Mentor & Make Money With Them?

To give you a better understanding of how their business operation works, and how you can join them and start making money, I’ve created a graphic to illustrate the entire process.

How Freedom Mentor works.
  1. To join Freedom Mentor, you have to apply on the site.
  2. Once you apply, a member of Phil’s team will reach out to you sometime afterward to discuss the program.
  3. You’ll then be screened on the call to determine if you’re a worthy candidate.
  4. Get started with the mentoring program after you’ve been screened and paid.
  5. Whenever you/they found a great deal and need their assistance to close sales for you, Phil will take 50% of the profits.

Meanwhile, the fee to join Freedom Mentor might be pricey for some people. It costs $3,000 upfront plus a $197 per month membership fee. And here’s a list showing what you’ll be getting inside the mentoring program:

  • A personalized investing plan.
  • Instructional, lead-generating software.
  • Access to a lender database.
  • 2 conference calls per week with other mentorees.
  • Daily instant messaging with Freedom Mentor’s team of counselors.
  • 3 live coaching calls per month with Freedom Mentor’s team of counselors.

As this is a high-ticket coaching program, I guess that’s why they’ve got a strict screening process, so Phil can work with his “dream customers” who’re coachable, action-oriented, ambitious, and committed to their goal.

Is There Any Bonus In Freedom Mentor?

Once your application is approved to join the program, you’ll get a free digital copy of Phil’s best-selling book called How To Be A Real Estate Investor.
This book is all about his real estate investing experience and knowledge. Phil wrote the book in an easy-to-understand manner to make his principles practical and easy to apply.
Moreover, Phil also updates his website regularly with tons of free training courses and articles on the subject of real estate investing.

Is There Any Upsell In Freedom Mentor?

Nope. I haven’t seen any upsell inside the program so far.

Instead, Freedom Mentor has 2 main downsells called Creative Real Estate Investing And Flipping Houses, which might cost you hundreds of dollars if you decide to join.

Customer Reviews on Freedom Mentor

Customer reviews on Freedom Mentor, as seen on
As you can see from the figures above, the program has a good reputation.
Without writing any longer, let me be straight to the point. I suspect that Phil’s team themselves might be the persons who left some of the positive reviews.
Let me explain why do I say so. Please take a look at the reviews below. I’ve highlighted their timeline with a red square border.

5+ reviews were made the same days that these were posted. And there’re many more.

Now I am not saying this isn’t impossible, and I’ve no intention to say the reviews are fake because I have no proof to back that my claim up.

But if you take a look at those negative reviews, quite a number of the former members are complaining that they’re investing in a mentoring program that doesn’t even work.

That’s the reason why I reckon the positive reviews are not entirely organic.

4 Reasons Why I Don't Recommend Freedom Mentor

1) No Refund Policy

The mentorship program doesn’t offer refunds. And I think this is unacceptable.

Don’t forget there’s still have some negative reviews on this program, as I mentioned earlier. That means this program is not suitable for every person.

When something goes wrong, or the customer is unsatisfied with the service because they don’t get what they deserve, they can’t do anything to get back their money, even a partial.

2) Expensive Membership Fee

This reason is very straightforward. Not everyone can afford such a high membership fee every month, without any guarantee of success.

3) 50/50 Split Is Huge!

As I mentioned earlier, Phil will be taking 50% of the net profit from his students for helping them out, and that’s huge.

I mean, if I was already paying for thousands into the program every year, I deserve the best customer service possible, and this includes the deal closing is handled.

Even if they still need a percentage of commission for the service, 50% is just way too much, what do you think?

4) Better Courses Elsewhere

Most of the stuff that you may find on the mentoring program can be found in other better Real Estate training courses, which is much cheaper and doesn’t oblige you to handover half your profits.

For example, you can buy into the high-quality real estate investing courses on Udemy, which only costs you around $20 ~$50 on average.

Likewise, there’re tons of ebooks written by the best in the field, which you can purchase for a fraction of the cost of joining Freedom Mentor.

What Do I Like About Freedom Mentor?

Although I am not a big fan of real estate investment, I always aim to be as objective as possible to share my thoughts on this program.
However, I don’t think there’s something great worth mentioning for this program.
It doesn’t have any unique selling points that caught my attention besides the numerous downsides.

So, Is Freedom Mentor A SCAM?

Now comes the most crucial verdict: Is Freedom Mentor A SCAM?

My answer is NOPE. They aren’t a scam, nor a pyramid scheme. They’re a legit coaching platform where you can have Phil Pustejovsky as your mentor and assist you in bringing your business to the next level.

However, in consideration of their expensive fees and large capital might be needed in investing real estate, I don’t think this program is for average Joe who runs on a tight budget.

If you want something consistent in terms of income and take low to zero startup costs, I would advise you to give affiliate marketing a shot.

Freedom Mentor Is Great. But Don't You Want A Better Option?

Kudos to you! You’ve just read 2100+ words and still counting. If you make it this far, I commend your commitment.

Meanwhile, I also can feel how serious you’re when it comes to finding a proper way to make money online.

  1. Thank you for this thorough review on Freedom Mentor. I’ve been interested in the real estate market but with the COVID-19 pandemic, not sure if its the right time to be investing. But is there ever a right time to invest? They all have their risks. The information you provided gave me good insights. I never heard of Freedom Mentor before. From what you stated, its quite expensive and company gets 50% of your profits – that’s quite steep. I feel like you should just get your real estate license if you’re going to spend that much money.

  2. My first thought looking at Freedom Mentor was that their pricing is extremely high. The reason I’m investing in real estate is so that I can make money and feel like I don’t have as much as I want right now…..3k is so much. I suppose that because it IS real estate, you get better ROI assuming it’s a good program, but it’s still off-putting for me. I agree with all of your statements on why you don’t like them. I think that for what you get, it’s definitely not worth the price. There are much better programs out there.

    1. You’re welcome, Maria. I’m appreciated your honest comment and recognition of my article.

In fact, Wealthy Affiliate is always my first choice and recommendation for beginners who want to learn to make money online.

Also, it’s free to get started with Wealthy Affiliate, not like what most “Biz Opp” companies, you’ll need to pay an upfront funding to be their member.

So it’s 100% risk-free to join Wealthy Affiliate.

  3. It’s one thing for your product to be good and it’s another for it to be affordable, when it’s over priced, it’ll be of no help to the people in need of it, and I think Freedom Mentor is overpriced, I’ve heard of a lot of programs that’ll teach you everything you need to know about real estate investment at a lesser price and even of more quality than this. It’ll be nice to recommend some others, thanks.
