7 Ways To Make Money With Affiliate Marketing Without A Website
1) Email Marketing
I have emphasized the importance of an email list in every of my affiliate marketing blog posts, and I’ll keep emphasizing it in the time to come.
Being an affiliate marketer; in other words, it means you’re being an online salesperson who is helping other people build their business.
If you aren’t building an email list, you aren’t building your affiliate business because you’re letting go of the traffic source that you can “own” for following up and future sales.
Think about it, whether you are using paid ads or free methods like SEO to get traffic, the mega platforms like Facebook and Google are the ones who own the traffic source, and they can control how much traffic you get.
But with a huge email list, you “own” that traffic source, and you can promote your affiliate product to everyone inside your list.
2) Social Media
Social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc. are the great platforms to get started with affiliate marketing, which doesn’t require you to have a website.
But that means you’ll need to be an influencer with a substantial amount of followers and spend COUNTLESS hours producing content to build a great relationship with them.
Hence, don’t expect the journey will be easy.
In fact, manufacturers and big brands will naturally come looking for you, asking you to be their ambassador if you’ve got a broad enough follower base.
Whew~ This is a big one. YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world.
Any unboxing or product review videos are a great way to do affiliate marketing because people are at the “Decision” stage in the Customer Purchase Lifecycle. Your video might help them make the final decision to purchase.
Suppose you learn to leverage keyword research to create videos that are informative, useful, and creative. In that case, you’ve more advantages than beginners who publish random videos blindly.
As most people prefer video than a plain text article, doing affiliate marketing with YouTube can still be extremely profitable.
The public interest in podcasts has explosive growth in the past 5 years.
Monetize podcast with affiliate marketing is a hidden gem that not many people are talking about.
If you’re an introvert who is shy and uncomfortable in front of a camera, but you can speak fluently with a mic (no camera needed), being a podcaster might be a great choice.
Additionally, the startup cost to be a podcaster is much lower than starting a YouTube Channel.
5) Forum Marketing
Forum Marketing is basically participating in discussions to HELP others while neutrally promoting your affiliate products.
This same concept and strategy could be applied for Facebook Group Marketing.
Your main goal is to help people answer questions you know and give them solutions. You are building that sense of trust before you promote them something.
The main forums you can join are encompassed Quora and Reddit. Yet, you can always find the forum that matches your niche by googling YOUR NICHE + FORUM.
However, this strategy starts to phasing out because the earning potential is quite low, and most forum owners or admins don’t allow the members to post their affiliate links.
6) Paid Advertisement
Paid advertisements are included:
- Facebook & IG Ads
- Google Ads
- YouTube Ads
- Twitter Ads
- Solo Ads
- Influencer Marketing
- And much more…
One of the pros of this method is it can drive tons of traffic in a short time, and it could be scaled very fast.
However, the major downside of this is it required a hefty sum funding. If you’ve no experience running an ad campaign, you’re basically lighting your money on fire.
Besides, platforms like Google and Facebook have a strict advertising policy.
If their system reckons your ad campaign violates their policy even if you don’t, your ad account will still get disabled. And it would take a long time to claim it back.
7) Web 2.0 Sites
Nowadays, Web 2.0 Sites like Medium and Blogger are free platforms that allow you to start your blogging career today.
These free services are very convenient, and using them is as easy as creating a new Facebook profile. Even a child can do it – Just kidding.
As these platforms have high domain authority, the search engines love them! This usually leads to better rankings and decent traffic.
For example, Medium alone has a readership of nearly 100 million. They also provide content creators with some great analytics tools to monitor the engagement of their articles.
Again, if you know how to do keyword research and on-page SEO the right way, your articles can be ranked pretty quickly.

After understanding the ways to do affiliate marketing without a website, Blogging and YouTube are my top recommended channels for newbies who want to be a part of the affiliate game.
The reason is simple. I’m more experienced in blogging, and I understand how powerful that SEO could be. That concept can somehow be applied to YouTube videos, too.
I know this might sound vague to you, so here’s a practical guide that I create for you to get started.
Please note, any recommendation and conclusions are only opinions and may not apply to all persons or situations.
Step 1: Choose A Niche
For the sake of people who don’t know what a “Niche” means, you can think of it like choosing your interest.
It can be anything you love to talk about and share with anybody else. When choosing a perfect niche, you can ask yourself the following question:
- How passionate am I in that niche?
- How profitable could the niche be? Can I do this for the long term?
- Is there a lot of competition in the niche?
Take some time to do research, and I am sure you can find the niche that suits you eventually.
Step 2: Choose A Relevant Affiliate Program
The second step is to choose a product that is relevant to your niche.
If you want to earn a higher commission rate, you can find thousands of digital products to promote on ClickBank.
You don’t want to spend hours of your time creating great content for a niche with low-value products and low commission rates.
Besides, one of the worst mistakes that beginner make is they focus on too many affiliate programs/networks at once, thinking they could make more money if they promote more products.
Let me break that false belief. Being an associate of 1~2 affiliate programs is enough.
Joining multiple affiliate programs won’t make you more money. Still, it would make things worst because it’s difficult to manage, and you’ve no core offer that you can leverage to maximize the earning potential.
Plus, the benefit of being an affiliate of one particular program is easier for you to build a brand and be an authority in your niche.

Step 3: Choose A Channel
As I mentioned earlier, Blogging and YouTube are my top recommended ways to start your affiliate career.
To choose the one that suits you is pretty straightforward.
If you’re introverted and shy (like me), starting a Blog on the prominent Web 2.0 Sites like Medium might be for you.
On the contrary, video marketing is for the people who are comfortable speaking in front of the camera, and YouTube is the second-to-none channel to get started.
Step 4: Build A Lead “Squeeze” Funnel
No matter which channels you’ve chosen to get started, I’ll always suggest you leverage Email Marketing in your affiliate marketing business.
As I said, if you don’t build an email list, you’re not building your business because you’re letting go the future sales. In fact, the average ROI of email is $38 for every dollar spent.
With all that in mind, here’s a doodle drawing showing you how to collect emails with a Lead “Squeeze” Funnel.
This concept is adopted from DotCom Secret, and I used it in every of my affiliate businesses. It works extremely well.
Let me break down the process and explain what you should do on each step of the funnel.
Whether you’re choosing YouTube or Blogging, your traffic source will be acquired mainly from SEO, unless you’re utilizing paid ads at the same time.
Squeeze Page, sometimes also coined as “Opt-in Page, “is where you capture the audiences’ emails to build your list.
You’ll need to create a free offer (aka Lead Magnet) to your audience in exchange for their emails. Nobody will give you their emails if they don’t get any return.
Rest assured, creating a Squeeze page is not like building a website. It’s just a single landing page that used to capture the leads.
It’s easy to create one with Email Service Provider like ConvertKit. They have many templates from you to choose from.
Once you get their emails, they’re on your list. You can then direct them to the partnered merchant site.
Later, you can build a great relationship with your audiences by providing them values, and promote your core affiliate product once in a while, just in case they don’t buy on the first time.
Step 5: Keyword Research
It’s crucial to do keyword research before creating any content.
Ideally, you want to find a long-tail keyword with a high search volume and low competition, so that your content could be ranked faster.
You can find low competition long-tail keywords in your niche using the free tool Jaaxy, and it’s the keyword research tool that I use the most.
Jaaxy will provide lots of helpful information about the seed keyword you entered and other related search queries, as shown in the figure below.

Keyword: A phrase that users type into search engines to find what they’re looking for.
Avg: The average number of searches that the keyword receives per month.
Traffic: The estimated traffic you will get if you achieve first-page rankings in the search engines.
QSR: Known as Quoted Search Results, this is the number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword.
KQI: Keyword Quality Indicator. It’ll show you a green “Great” sign if the keyword is good for creating a high-ranking content.
SEO: A score based on traffic and competition. The higher the score, the more likely you’ll rank for this keyword on the first page.

Step 6: Creating Content With Intent
With everything I write, I have an underlying purpose.
I aim to write content that is helpful and informative (just like this one) to ensure it could get ranked in search engines and turn the traffic into revenue.
Don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t mean every content you create is a big sales pitch that pushes the offer down your audiences’ throats. That’s not the way to build a sustainable business.
The focal point of your content should be to engage, help, and inform people while getting them to take an actionable task. It could be:
- Joining your email list (through lead “squeeze” funnel)
- Reading another post on your site
- Buying something
- Filling out a survey
- Leaving a comment
- Sharing my content
This is done by creating content with intent.
Affiliate Marketing is a business. So there is no point in creating content “just to create content”, you have to find a way to monetize your audiences while helping them get what they want. Or else, your business will be phased out very soon.
Step 7: Drive Traffic To Your Funnel
After you know how to create keyword-rich content (blog posts or YouTube videos) with an underlying purpose, you’ll start driving traffic to your lead “squeeze” funnel to make sales and follow up your subscribers.

1) You Own An Online Real Estate
Running a website is like building an online real estate that grows in value and can be sold later.
From the diagram below, you can see that an affiliate website (xiaomitoday.com) that earns $2,000 per month could be sold up to $50,000 on Flippa.
Sometimes, you can easily sell such an affiliate website for anything up to 40x its average monthly income.
2) Building A Business On A Platform You Don’t Own Could Be A Bad Idea
Did you know there’s a web 2.0 site called Squidoo that first went online way back in 2004?
Just like Medium, Squidoo used to be a well-known platform for people to start non-website affiliate marketing. As Google trusts Squidoo a lot, it’s a piece of cake to be ranked on Google.
Nevertheless, Squidoo started to suspend/shut down people’s blogs for no valid reason in early 2013, and HubPages acquire the company in 2014.
Imagine the bloggers who make tons of money on Squidoo, suddenly lose everything overnight.
Meanwhile, the same tragedy is happening to Tik Tok influencers because more and more countries are banning this app when writing this article.
3) Most Affiliate Programs Require Affiliate To Own A Website
Most affiliate networks will want to know how you’re going to promote their product/service, and not all applicants will be approved.
People who have websites will have more advantages because the affiliate networks can audit the applicants’ websites to see if they’re in a good fit with the products.
While doing non-website affiliate marketing has its benefits, it’s always recommended to create your own website or do it with a YouTube channel.
If you think that creating a website is troublesome, I can tell you that it won’t bother you for long.
As I said, you own a precious digital asset if you know how to build and monetize an affiliate site the right way.
Moreover, building a website is no longer exclusive for tech-savvy in today’s world.
